Hello everyone! As promised in our earlier news post, 2017: Things in the pipeline (I recommend you give it a read) we promised a revamp to the way staff go about punishing rule breakers in the community. We've had plenty of complaints over the past months about how players feel the current punishment system is unfair. After reviewing our procedures for punishment players I have realised it is a little strict, and has some excessive cases where players were issued bans when they shouldn't have been. This is not the way I want things to be, so I have spent the past few weeks completely rewriting our procedures for staff. I'd like to take the opportunity to apologise for people who may have received excessive punishment, and we hope our new approach to enforcing the rules will benefit everybody. Now for the bit you're probably reading for... Ban Pardons After reviewing our old punishment procedures I have decided that people who have been banned for spamming, or muted 2+ weeks for spamming will be entitled to have their punishments undone. You can get this done by filing a ban appeal which will be accepted by our staff. As well as this, people who have been banned for disrespect can file a ban appeal to have their ban re-assessed under our new guidelines for staff, although you're not guaranteed an unban if we still feel you've been disrespectful. As always if you feel you've been banned unfairly you can submit a ban appeal anyway and your ban will be reviewed by our staff. You can file ban appeals at the following link: https://forum.omegarealm.com/forums/punishment-appeals.69/ Tricking the Staff One final thing I wanted to talk about was increasing complaints I've had from staff about players who pretend to hack to get banned and appeal. I want to let you know that if you intentionally emulate the behavior of a hack client to get banned we will not be inclined to unban you if you appeal. Thank you for reading.
